Held: Little Hearts

Helping children understand big feelings through faith, family, and love.

Grief can be hard to understand — especially for children. Held: Little Hearts was created to help children process loss, ask questions, and express emotions through faith-based lessons and creative reflection.

Led by trained facilitators, Little Hearts groups provide safe, structured environments where children can learn that all their feelings — even sadness, anger, or confusion — are seen and understood by God. Each version is tailored to a specific age group, blending faith, emotional learning, and creative activities that nurture both comfort and connection.

Ministries, schools, and community programs can partner with Let’s Talk About It to bring Held: Little Hearts to their area. Each partnership includes facilitator training, printed and digital curriculum, and outreach materials for families.

Bring Held: Little Hearts to Your Church or Organization

Held: Tender Little Hearts (Ages 2–4)

The Tender Little Hearts Curriculum is designed for toddlers and preschoolers who are just beginning to understand emotions and loss. Through gentle stories, sensory activities, and faith-based reassurance, children learn that it’s okay to feel sad or confused — and that God’s love is constant, even when life changes.

This edition gives trained facilitators step-by-step tools to create emotionally safe, interactive sessions where young children can explore feelings through color, movement, and play. Each session centers around three simple truths: God loves me, it’s okay to feel, and our memories matter.

Features include:

  • Facilitator-led stories with age-appropriate emotional cues
  • Interactive activities that use play and color to process feelings
  • Simple Scripture reflections to introduce faith and comfort
  • Guidance for families to continue support at home
  • Optional family memory moments for ongoing connection

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me.’ Even the smallest hearts can find comfort in His arms.”

Held: Little Hearts (Ages 4–12)

The Little Hearts Curriculum helps children ages 4–12 recognize, name, and express their feelings through faith-based lessons, journaling, and creative projects.

Each session gently guides children toward understanding their emotions and learning how to bring them to God in prayer.

Facilitators lead group sessions that balance learning, creativity, and discussion, providing both spiritual and emotional support. Lessons are designed with child development principles and faith foundations in mind, ensuring that every child feels safe, heard, and understood.

Features include:

  • Guided lessons with stories, art, and memory-building activities
  • Scripture-based journaling and prayer reflections
  • “Family Connection” pages to continue faith discussions at home
  • Leader notes for facilitators with age-appropriate support tips
  • Integration of faith and emotional literacy for balanced healing

“When children learn that their feelings are safe with God, healing becomes part of their story.”

Both editions of Held: Little Hearts are offered in person through our local Held groups, led by trained facilitators equipped with the resources and guidance needed to care for young hearts. Families can also participate in Held at Home sessions for continued comfort and conversation.
